I've always loved that Clash song Bankrobber, the one that goes:

MY DADDY WAS A BANKROBBER
BUT HE NEVER HURT NOBODY
HE JUST LOVED TO LIVE THAT WAY
AND HE LOVED TO STEAL YOUR MONEY

The thing is, I've always loved it but apparently I've always misheard it. Yesterday, seemingly out of nowhere, Melle Mel starting singing it and I thought, that's not the right lyric, and about a second later I thought, but that makes sense, and about half a second after that I realized that I've been hearing it and singing it wrong for over twenty years. All this time I thought the first line was:

O'Dougherty was a bankrobber

Where did I get that from?
