Just got back from the ultrasound/midwife visit. I was running late to meet MM and her mother at the hospital so there I was hauling ass up I-89. Passed a car on the side of the road bookended by cop cars and felt a shock of revulsion at what looked like a legless body sticking out from under a front wheel. Turned out to be spilled groceries. So I was kind of jittery when I got to the hospital and perhaps primed for panic when there was no sign of them at the appointed meeting place. Or in the radiology waiting room. By the time they were 20 minutes late I was convinced they were on the side of the highway somewhere. Running around trying to get change for the payphone I was the very model of the highstrung expectant father. A woman finally lent me her cellphone and just as I was dialing, in they walked. Phew.
Anyway, things look good. The baby is fine. It takes up so much space that it was hard for us to make out anything from the ultrasound but the experts seemed happy. So we've scheduled an induction for Friday. Friday the 13th. Guess that means we'll have to name the kid Jason. Of course, it might come on the 14th which, as Kerry points out, is both Bastille Day and a certain missing blogger's birthday.

I'm trying to convince MM to liveblog the birth, but no go so far. And as far as updating: it's a helluva lot easier than calling everyone back!
yes me too though i think that if the baby comes before Fri 13th, the frenzied dad won't be thinking much about blogging. i've been expecting the day of birth to be uninformative for us blog followers.
by the way that's a great number (7.13.7). The babe will be cloaked in luck!

Ah, now that the appointment to induce is scheduled, the labour will kick in -- that's what happened with both of mine. Which is why I would schedule an induction the moment I hit 40 weeks next time around.
Oh baby. I'm so excited for you guys, and so happy you're bringing someone into this world. It already feels like a better place, somehow. Good luck! 7 13 7, eh? Sounds like one of my drunken blackjack hands.
Might want to check that there isn't some sort of media exclusivity arrangement that prevents contemporaneous broadcast of birthing details. Such is the nature of modern telecommunications law.
But seriously, I, too, am really excited and expectant about the baby. I spent the weekend with friends with kids (in Vegas, of all places) and kept thinking about how fortunate some kids are in the parents they have, and that's my feeling, precisely, about your little one's future, even now. We should all be so fortunate.
